YOUTH GROUPS: YOU CAN HELP US BY MAKING
BREAKFAST  BAGS

AID FOR FRIENDS has a long and proud history of providing FREE home-cooked meals to the isolated homebound.  Along with dinners, we can often provide a breakfast meal through the generosity of volunteer groups.

PREPARE BREAKFAST BAGS for our shut-ins.

This is a fun project for groups of all ages.  Each breakfast bag can contain any of these items: packets of hot or cold cereals, breakfast bars, individual servings of fruit and/or juices.

Please be sure to use a clear plastic bag so we can see the contents.  Because some shut-ins can't eat certain foods, we need to see what we're sending to them.

Most importantly, please enclose a hand-made card, picture or note letting the shut-ins know they are thought of.  You can sign your name and the name of your school or Youth Group. (Our client/friends love to hang these notes on their refrigerators!) Bags can be sealed with a twist-tie or colored ribbon.

We rely on volunteers to help support our Breakfast Bag Program.  Our shut-ins love these little treats and it encourages them to eat the most important meal of the day, breakfast!

A breakfast bag consists of 4 or 5 non-perishable items such as:

*miniature cereal boxes                   *tea bags, instant coffee

*juice cartons                                   *boxes of raisins

*oatmeal packets                              *pudding or fruit cups

*cereal bars/granola bars                  *packs of peanut butter crackers

Please Don't include any of the following:

    *fresh fruit

    *muffins or danish

*applesauce cups with aluminum tops (which can be easily punctured)

                                                                 - OR -

If you prefer, LUNCHEON BAGS can be made with items such as: individually packaged cookies, crackers and cheese, crackers and peanut butter, individual containers of fruit, applesauce, jello, packets of raisins, energy bars.  Use your imagination.  What would you like to receive in a luncheon bag?  As above, the shut-ins always enjoy receiving a handmade greeting card, telling them we were thinking about them and wishing them well.

To volunteer to do any of these youth activities, either individually or as a group, please contact Vince Sample, Youth Coordinator at Aid For Friends, 215-464-2224.
