Volunteers in the Workplace

Can We Tailor a

Program for You?

Whether you have an active employee relations club and are looking for a new project, or, you want an activity to bring your co-workers together, we have some ideas for you. Listed below are businesses that are making a difference in the lives of our shut-ins:

Veterans Affairs Office in the Germantown Section of Philadelphia– This was AFF’s first freezer site in the workplace. The VA has 2 freezers at their location on Wissahickon Ave. Employees pick up food on their lunch hour or after work and deliver the meals to clients near their office or near their homes. Twenty shut-ins are being served at this time.

CIGNA CORPORATION- The HR Dept. spearheaded a drive to collect Gifts of Warmth and nearly 50 gifts were delivered to our facility just in time for the holidays.

MEDIMMUNE INC. The Human Resources Dept. of this company spearheaded a drive to collect Gifts of Warmth at the holidays.  The company has two plants, one in Bensalem and one on Red Lion Rd. in Philadelphia.  A carload of gifts were brought to our warehouse on the Saturday before Christmas..

Janssen Pharmaceutica Company in Titusville, N.J.-Each year employees from this company collect hundreds of new items for our Gifts of Warmth Program, ensuring that each of our shut-ins receive gifts for the holidays. The company also transports the items to the AFF Frail Elderly Outreach Center in Northeast Philadelphia.

RICOH BUSINESS SYSTEMS on Commerce WAY in Philadelphia collected gifts of warmth for Aid For Friends. The "Aftermarket Dept" spearheaded the project and presented the donations to Aid For Friends on behalf of the RICOH  family.

The Washington Group in Princeton , NJ - made breakfast bags and collected toiletries in May-June. (when we needed them most) The toiletries save the shut-in money. The foods allow them to eat the most important meal of the day - breakfast.

Other Area Businesses - have served as sponsors for our two major fundraisers during the year, our Dinner at Moonstruck Restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia each November and our Annual Golf Outing In September.

The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church - the group at 20th and Market St. in Philadelphia celebrated the holiday season by collecting Gifts of Warmth for our shut-ins and delivering them to our warehouse in time for the holidays. Beautiful sweaters, pajamas, slippers and blankets were among the gifts collected.

These are just some of the many businesses that help us on a regular basis. Can we tailor a program for your group?;      Call Lynn Trombetta 215 464-2224 or email  her at info@aidforfriends.org
