HomeCooked Meals
- (frozen home-cooked donated dinners, soups, Breakfast Bags and other supplemental foods) All our meals are prepared by our volunteer cooks and are delivered weekly to each client/friend by empathetic volunteer visitors.
We Get Out To See The Potential Client Quickly
- AFF usually gets out to see a potential CLIENT/FRIEND within six (6) business days. This is crucial for those needing immediate help (e.g. a hospital discharge who had a broken hip.
Desperate Cases Get Special Attention
- There are many times when we go out in the morning to see a shut-in and the situation is so desperate that our staff returns that afternoon with food.
We Serve People of All Ages
- We don't just serve older adults. AFF serves anyone of any age who are needy, isolated and homebound.-primarily frail elderly.
More Than Just Meals
- AFF provides nutritional supplements, advocacy, emergency financial assistance, supplemental foods, orange juice and gifts of warmth.
We Don't Just Drop A Meal Off At The Door
- A AFF visitor volunteer visits the client/friend once a week, delivers seven (7) frozen dinners, puts them in their freezer and enjoys an extended visit with the shut-in: FOOD and FRIENDSHIP.
In 35 years we have delivered more than 13 million free meals to over 11,990 shut-ins. Our visitors have volunteered more than 1.5 million hours of compassionate visiting with their shut-in client/friends. This past fiscal year alone AFF delivered over 460,740 free meals (Dinners, Soups and Breakfast Bags) to an aggregate total of 2,194 lonely shut-ins.
