AID FOR FRIENDS

How we Differ From Other Programs

NO COST - All food and other services provided for our CLIENT/FRIEND are FREE.

HOMECOOKED MEALS  - Our volunteer cooks prepare meals in their own      homes. Groups at Churches and Synagogues also get together to do congregate cooking. Low salt meals are available for those on restricted diets.

WE GET OUT TO SEE THE POTENTIAL CLIENT QUICKLY - AFF usually gets out to see a potential CLIENT/FRIEND within six (6) business days. This is crucial for those needing immediate help (e.g. a hospital discharge who had a  broken hip.

DESPERATE CASES GET SPECIAL ATTENTION - There are many times when  we go out in the morning to see a shut-in and the situation  is so desperate that our staff returns that afternoon with  food.

WE SERVE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES - We don't just serve older adults. AFF serves anyone of any age who is isolated and homebound.

MORE THAN JUST MEALS - AFF provides nutritional supplements, advocacy, emergency financial assistance, supplemental foods, orange juice and gifts of warmth.

WE DON'T JUST DROP A MEAL OFF AT THE DOOR - A AFF visitor     volunteer visits the client/friend once a week, delivers seven (7) frozen dinners, puts them in their freezer and enjoys an extended visit with the shut-in: FOOD and  FRIENDSHIP.

In 29 years our visitor volunteers have spent more than one million hours in compassionate visiting and support.                                                                                                                                                                                                 10/24/03
